Well, maybe… In some cases.
But when did we make our life so serious? Is it because our mom's and teachers told us countless times “Take your life more seriously”?
Maybe we should all be a little more like the Joker…
“WHY SO SERIOUS?!”
People have a tendency to make everything about their lives goal orientated. This is because we have grown up in an antiquated education system where everyone is super “next-step” focused.
We like to strive for the next step in life.
It could be:
· Get a degree
· Start a family
· Get a masters
· Get married
· Get a promotion
· Get a pay rise
· Get a 50” TV, to replace the 47”
· Get to the end of the hour (as this represents break time)
But, we end up so focused on the next step, that we forget about where we are standing right now.
And no, you can’t just act all willy nilly, doing whatever you want with no regard for the future. That will land you in the job centre, claiming benefits.
What I'm more trying to say is... lighten up. Not everything has to have a purpose.
Remember, when you were a child, you did things because you wanted to, not because you were meant to. And truth be told, there is nothing to say that anything is different now. You still can do whatever you like, no one is stopping you.
Yes in school / university it was (or is) important to take your subjects seriously. If you don’t, you could just end up wasting a colossal amount of your time, and potentially your money.
But not everything has to be taken so seriously.
The trouble is, we have gone through most of our lives with the belief that if you’re not serious, and task focused about what you are doing, you won’t be successful. However, if life were a series of tasks and goals, everyone would be robots!
Breaking patterns can be hard. But, if we go on in life, continuing the bad habits, we picked up in our youth, we might just end up repeating our mistakes and never growing up [by that I mean remaining immature. No one should “grow up” because all growing up really means is becoming boring].
How about instead of trying to remain in a super, productive, efficiency mode all the time, you STOP, and think to yourself “Hey, maybe I could sit down, relax and watch some TV with no end goal in mind”. We need to let our bodies relax every once in a while, as humans simply aren't robots.
If you've skipped to the end of this blog, because you can’t be bothered to read all of the above, or perhaps you don’t agree with what is said above, then watch the below video instead. Either way, these guys have their own views on life and its seriousness.
Of course, don’t forget to like and share. Thanks.
